Stitchwort inspired...

The fabulous organisers of the York Book Award have sent me some photos of the students amazing work. I've printed these off to put up on the wall in my writing space, they bring me so much joy!

Viola driving up to Stitchwort house, by artist Kene, who I'd like to nominate for illustrating the Stitchwort graphic novel!

One incredible student had a sketchbook with pages and pages of a Stitchwort movie storyboard. I LOVE the styling of Viola here. Just phenomenal work, Kene you're amazing! Please keep drawing and telling stories!

Viola and Mary meeting for the first time, I think Mary is about 10 times scarier in this version!
Really beautiful, atmospheric scene, with such elegant eyes and hands!

Then this beautiful watercolour portrait of Etta...

I recognised Etta as soon as I saw this portrait, I love the shine of her ribbons and her spider necklace!

The most adorable, fluffy, needle-felted spider!

I love mixed media work, and I have a lot of collage in my sketchbook, this is brilliant! The spider is so cute with the little fangs and the point of light in the eyes, and the key! So detailed!

All of the art and writing the students created inspired by the book was amazing, I hope they were all very proud of the hard work and effort they put in. Everything was to such an exceptionally high standard, one student had made a griffin for Impossible Creatures!
